TikTok has ventured into AI chatbot territory with Tako, an AI chatbot designed to talk about short videos and help viewers find relevant content. TikTok is currently conducting tests with this feature in the Philippines.
Watchful Technologies, an Israeli app intelligence firm, first identified this test. Users may tap the icon while watching videos to have text-based conversations and get assistance with finding video content. The experiment was first detected.
What is Tako?
Tako (, madako-ka, Sheng Shao) is the Japanese term for octopus and refers to all species belonging to the Octopodidae family (madako-ka, Sheng Shao). Tako is commonly eaten boiled, when its soft texture and exquisite flavor emerge. TikTok's popularity has caused concern about its impact on children. Furthermore, all Tako conversations will be checked for safety purposes as well as "enhancing your experience". One major drawback with modern AI chatbots is their logging feature which records user interactions for later review while not wiping conversations when conversations end, leaving personal details exposed and vulnerable against hacking or other forms of interference from potential hackers or attacks.
TikTok's trial marks its latest foray into artificial intelligence; parent company ByteDance Ltd. of China has come under increased scrutiny due to their data collection practices. A similar initiative by Snapchat last month introduced My AI as well.
